Pickle Ornament
The pickle ornament was considered a special tree decoration by many families in Germany. There, the fir tree was decorated on Christmas Eve. The pickle was always the last ornament to be hung on the tree. When the children were allowed to view the tree, they would begin searching for the special pickle for they knew that whoever first found it would receive an extra gift left by St. Nicholas for the most observant child.
This clay pickle (unlike the blown glass pickles which are very fragile) will last in your family for years to come!
